Boomtown Fair organisers have announced the launch night of their brand new permanent event space at their Bristol headquarters: Boomtown Halloween.
UPDATE: Due to high demand, a second date has been added. Boomtown Halloween will now take place on both Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd November. Tickets for both will go on sale at 7pm Thursday 29th November.
The 3,500 capacity venue, currently used as offices and a production area for the festival, was granted planning permission earlier this month. The launch date of Saturday 2nd November was revealed in the Boomtown Chapter 11 programme, as reported by Boomtown Source. The venue has now been named ‘Area 404’, after one of the festival’s newest districts.
Organisers have now revealed tickets for Boomtown Halloween will be released on Thursday 29th August, saying: “We invite you to explore the deserted industrial quadrant of AREA 404: an overgrown immersive, dystopia filled with lost souls for a nighttime festival experience beyond the living world.”
“The warren-like complex will house five rooms, all permeating with the sounds that radiate from Boomtown’s very core… The main room will feature high energy live music, similar to those who’ve soundtracked the festival’s mainstages for the past decade, with the medium and smaller rooms hosting a perfect spectrum of reggae, techno, house, dnb and disco. This is a true celebration of our collective Boomtown spirit to bring everyone together in a huge melting pot of musical styles, theatrical exploration and creative endeavour.”
A Boomtown Halloween Facebook event has been created, with over 30,000 people going or interested at the time of writing. The event page gives opening times of 9pm to 4am. While the Area 404 venue was granted planning approval for a 3,500 capacity, it’s not known exactly how many tickets will be on sale for Boomtown Halloween.
Pre-registration for tickets is open now at TicketFairy.
Boomtown Source reports Area 404 is licenced for up to 24 events per year, with the option to host a New Years Eve event open until 7am.
Festival co-founder Chris Rutherford previously told the Bristol Post: “The licence we’ve submitted is with the idea of running a series of themed Boomtown theatrical events in our warehouse, as well as offering Bristol a new venue space for general hire for fellow promoters… we’re pretty excited about this new project. Definitely watch this space!”
A comment from organisers on the TicketFairy pre-registration page says: “We are so pleased to be able to finally announce this venue, it feels like a proper homecoming for us and we’re unbelievably excited to be able to showcase everything we’ve grown into since we started putting on gigs in Bristol over a decade ago.
“To be able to bring our unique mix of interactive and immersive theatre, the beautifully handcrafted intricate set designs and to represent a huge amount of music genres all under one roof, is going to be something incredibly special!”
