Glastonbury organisers have revealed a limited edition poster print, from which all proceeds will go to War Child‘s Ukraine Emergency Fund. It features the festival’s 2022 artwork by Stanley Donwood reworked with the colours of the Ukrainian flag and will be produced on-site using the festival’s Heidelberg Cylinder printing press.
They’re now available to purchase from the online Glastonbury store for £25 with the sale limited to 2,022 prints, each of which will be numbered. They’re expected to be dispatched by the end of April.
Glastonbury has a proud history of charitable giving, distributing money made from each year’s festival to good causes since at least the 1980s. Glastonbury 2017 was the first to raise over £3 million for charities including Oxfam, Greenpeace and Water Aid – along with a whole host of smaller and local causes. When coronavirus forced the cancellation of 2020’s festival, a range of merchandise was launched to raise funds for Oxfam, Greenpeace and Water Aid.
Organiser Emily Eavis recently spoke out on the UK’s much-criticised visa process for Ukrainian refugees, saying it’s “simply not working”. Having pledged to host a family at Worthy Farm, their visas had not been approved after waiting over 17 days, with the family remaining stuck in Kyiv.
Earlier this week, the first area-specific line-up poster was revealed ahead of Glastonbury’s long-awaited return this June, confirming over 20 additional artists to bolster the festival’s main line-up announced back in March. And last week, the finalists of Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition were revealed along with an official Soundcloud playlist.
All tickets for Glastonbury 2022 have now been sold. Resales of returned tickets were held towards the end of March which both sold out in a matter of minutes.
Glastonbury organisers revealed the main line-up poster for this summer’s festival at the beginning of March. Emily Eavis said: “We are very happy to bring you the first shortlist of artists from the main stages for Glastonbury Festival 2022 – and if you can believe it there’s even more to come!”
Long-rumoured headliners Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar have had their slots confirmed. Also included in around 90 artists revealed on the main poster were Supergrass and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, who were both strongly rumoured, while Lorde and Sigrid are among the recent Glasto acts returning for 2022.
Paul McCartney will be 80 by the time Glastonbury comes around, which would make him the oldest ever Pyramid Stage headliner. He’s expected to perform the day after Billie Eilish headlines. Aged 20 at the time, she’ll be the youngest ever Pyramid headliner.
Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis previously confirmed on Twitter that the initial line-up poster will be published in March, with area line-ups to follow – before the complete line-up with timings is released in June, just before the festival.
Glastonbury 2022 will take place from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th June at Worthy Farm near Pilton, Somerset. Tickets sold out ahead of the cancelled 2020 festival, though a resale of cancelled tickets will take place before the event.
