Supergrass are rumoured to appear on the line-up for Glastonbury this summer. The band reformed for Glastonbury’s Pilton Party event in September 2019 and were later announced as part of the line-up for Glastonbury’s 50th-anniversary event, planned for June 2020.
With coronavirus forcing the cancellation of Glastonbury in both 2020 and 2021, it’s pretty likely the Supergrass booking has been rolled over to 2022’s line-up. Festival founder Michael Eavis previously said: “They’ve got loads of hit records and they’re going to be absolutely great, I can’t wait to see them.”
Gaz Coombes, Danny Goffey, Mick Quinn and Rob Coombes formed Supergrass in 1993. Their hit song ‘Alright‘ achieved international acclaim, before the band split in 2010 citing creative differences. Now back together, they’ve already confirmed loads of tour dates for this summer and feature on the line-ups for Kendal Calling, Birmingham’s Moseley Folk & Arts Festival and Scotland’s Eden Festival.
Their official tour listings, shown below, currently has nothing between a show in Bath on June 18th and an appearance at Bilbao BBK Live Festival on July 8th – leaving plenty of room for a slot at Glasto sometime on the weekend of June 24th-26th.
As it stands, only Billie Eilish and Diana Ross have been officially confirmed by Glastonbury organisers as part of the line-up.
However, a few other artists have self-confirmed their place, including Crowded House, Craig Charles, Papaphone and Black Dyke Band. The latter will open the Pyramid Stage on Sunday morning.
Billie Eilish will be the youngest ever Pyramid Stage headliner, at 20 years old when she performs on the Friday night. Diana Ross will take the Pyramid’s Sunday afternoon ‘Legends Slot’.
Harry Styles has also been rumoured to appear – as are Oasis, The Chemical Brothers and George Ezra.
The full line-up is usually revealed towards the end of May, just a few weeks before the festival, although more artists are often confirmed from February.
Glastonbury 2022 will take place from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th June at Worthy Farm near Pilton, Somerset. Tickets sold out ahead of the cancelled 2020 festival, though a resale of cancelled tickets will take place before the event.
