Glastonbury 2022: Noel Gallagher reportedly set to subheadline Pyramid Stage

Noel Gallagher is reportedly lined up to subheadline the Pyramid Stage on the Saturday night of Glastonbury Festival 2022.

He’d previously said he wouldn’t play any live gigs this year, unless an offer came in from Glastonbury – although a series of gigs have since been announced including Delamere Forest, London and Colwyn Bay.

A source told The Sun: “He is currently pencilled on the list for the line-up for the Pyramid Stage on the Saturday of Glastonbury and will perform just before the headliner.

“Noel has never played a music gig at Glastonbury outside of Oasis who performed twice there.

“This will be a monumental moment for him and it will be an incredible moment for the festival.”

Noel said previously: “I had a plan anyway – by the end of 2019 was to take 2020 off, then 2021 was writing, 2022 was recording, then go back out in 2023 – so I’m still ahead of schedule.

“I’m not planning on doing anything till 2023 anyway, but if Glastonbury happens and they want me to do it, I’ll do that.”

He’s previously appeared at Glastonbury as part of Oasis in 1994 and 2004 and also spoke at the festival’s screening of Oasis documentary Supersonic in 2017.

With his new band The High Flying Birds, they’ve already achieved four number one albums.

The Sun also reported Haim will be on the Pyramid Stage this summer in the slot just before Noel Gallagher. We’re still waiting to see who the headliner will be that night. The source said: “Haim, who are best pals with Taylor Swift, are also scheduled to be on just before him.

“They played a live-streamed set from Worthy Farm last year and were a huge hit.”

As it stands, only Billie Eilish, Diana Ross, Little Simz and R.A.E. have been officially confirmed by Glastonbury organisers as part of the line-up – with 2020 Emerging Talent Competiton runners-up ADIMAL and Matilda Mann also expected to appear.

Organiser Emily Eavis has revealed the main Glastonbury 2022 line-up poster will be released in March.

However, a few other artists have self-confirmed their place, including Crowded House, Craig Charles, Confidence Man, Papaphone, Courtney Barnett and Black Dyke Band. The latter will open the Pyramid Stage on Sunday morning.

Billie Eilish will be the youngest ever Pyramid Stage headliner, at 20 years old when she performs on the Friday night. Diana Ross will take the Pyramid’s Sunday afternoon ‘Legends Slot’.

Harry Styles has also been rumoured to appear – as have Supergrass, The Chemical Brothers, Wolf Alice, George Ezra and even Oasis.

The full line-up is usually revealed towards the end of May, just a few weeks before the festival, although more artists are often confirmed from February.

Glastonbury 2022 will take place from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th June at Worthy Farm near Pilton, Somerset. Tickets sold out ahead of the cancelled 2020 festival, though a resale of cancelled tickets will take place before the event.
