Glastonbury organisers have confirmed R.A.E. will feature on the line-up for this summer’s festival. The South-East London hip-hop and R&B artist was scheduled to appear in 2021 after winning Glasto’s annual Emerging Talent Competition in 2020 – until coronavirus forced the festival to be cancelled.
Back in 2020, Emily Eavis said: “I’m absolutely thrilled for R.A.E. Her music is so uplifting and vibrant, and she absolutely wowed the judges. I really can’t wait to see her at next year’s Glastonbury!”
The free-to-enter Emerging Talent Competition is open to new UK and Ireland-based acts of any genre who are asked to submit one recorded track and one video of a live performance. This year’s competition opens on Monday with artists having just one week to send in their entries. This year’s winner will also secure a slot on the 2022 line-up.
Back in 2020, Becci Scotcher, Senior Grants & Programmes Manager at PRS Foundation said, “Huge congratulations to the fantastic R.A.E. for winning this year’s Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition!
“The shortlist was incredibly competitive and we’re delighted to be awarding our £5,000 talent development bursary to R.A.E. and both £2,500 bursaries to the brilliant runners-up AJIMAL and Matilda Mann. We look forward to following their progress and seeing them perform at next year’s Glastonbury Festival.”

A panel of 30 leading music writers will review the entries to compile a longlist of 90 artists. This will then be narrowed down to eight artists by judges including Glastonbury organisers Michael and Emily Eavis who will compete in the live finals in Pilton.
As it stands, only Billie Eilish, Diana Ross and R.A.E. have been officially confirmed by Glastonbury organisers as part of the line-up.
However, a few other artists have self-confirmed their place, including Crowded House, Craig Charles, Papaphone and Black Dyke Band. The latter will open the Pyramid Stage on Sunday morning.
Billie Eilish will be the youngest ever Pyramid Stage headliner, at 20 years old when she performs on the Friday night. Diana Ross will take the Pyramid’s Sunday afternoon ‘Legends Slot’.
Harry Styles has also been rumoured to appear – as are Oasis, Supergrass, The Chemical Brothers, Wolf Alice and George Ezra.
The full line-up is usually revealed towards the end of May, just a few weeks before the festival, although more artists are often confirmed from February.
Glastonbury 2022 will take place from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th June at Worthy Farm near Pilton, Somerset. Tickets sold out ahead of the cancelled 2020 festival, though a resale of cancelled tickets will take place before the event.
