Glastonbury: Hozier secret set tonight confirmed

Hozier

After being rumoured through the week, Hozier has now confirmed he’ll be playing a secret set at Glastonbury tonight.

He’ll appear at the former John Peel tent, now known as the Woodsies stage, from 7:35pm to 8:35pm as part of Friday’s line-up.

The surprise performance will likely be available to watch live on BBC iPlayer, where it’ll remain available to watch again for 30 days.

It’ll be Hozier’s first appearance at Glastonbury since his Pyramid Stage set in 2019. The Irish singer has a new album ‘Unreal Unearth‘ due for release in August.

While SecretGlasto has pretty much confirmed Blossoms and Rick Astley will play a secret set tomorrow, Hozier’s announcement marks the first officially confirmed secret set from a major artist at this year’s festival – though we’re expecting to find out tonight’s set from ‘The Churnups’ is definitely the Foo Fighters any minute.

While Hozier’s post says the set starts at 19:30 tonight, the official schedule on the Glastonbury app and website currently has it delayed by five minutes to run from 19:35 to 20:35.

Tomorrow, Blossoms and Rick Astley will play their own secret set, also on Woodsies, from 6pm to 7pm – and they’re expected to play covers of The Smiths as on their 2021 tour.

In other Glasto news, it looks like Taylor Swift could be set to headline next summer. The UK dates for her Eras Tour have now been announced and line up perfectly with a potential Sunday night Pyramid Stage headline slot. Fans have been expecting her to be announced for Glasto ever since the 2020 festival was cancelled weeks after she was confirmed as a headliner.

Organiser Emily Eavis said last year: “I think we’ve got Taylor on board next time she’s doing some touring. We would love to have her back, obviously.”

The dates for Glastonbury 2024 will be confirmed in a few days but it’s widely expected to be the weekend of Sunday 23rd June or Sunday 30th June. Taylor has kept both of them free in the tour dates announced yesterday.

Tickets for Glastonbury 2024 will, as ever, be like gold dust. You’ll need to be both well prepared and lucky to secure them. This year, tickets sold out in minutes when they went on sale in the autumn and the resales this spring sold even faster.
