The Undertones confirmed for Glastonbury 2022’s acoustic stage

The Undertones

The Undertones have revealed they’ll be part of this summer’s Glastonbury line-up.

Tour listings posted to their official website include a slot on the festival’s Acoustic Stage on Friday 24th June. It follows a run of UK and Europe gigs through March, April and May – along with a performance at Wychwood Festival a few weeks before Glasto.

Formed in Derry back in 1974, The Undertones were originally comprised of Feargal Sharkey (vocals), John O’Neill (rhythm guitar, vocals), Damian O’Neill (lead guitar, vocals), Michael Bradley (bass, vocals) and Billy Doherty (drummer). Paul McLoone replaced lead singer Sharkey in 1999.

They last played at Glastonbury back in 2005 when they appeared on the Pyramid Stage on Friday afternoon. If you haven’t managed to get your hands on a Glastonbury ticket, The Undertones are already confirmed for a bunch of other UK festivals including Blackpool’s Rebellion Festival, Wickham Festival and Sign of the Times South.

Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis recently confirmed on Twitter that the initial line-up poster will be published in March, with area line-ups to follow – before the complete line-up with timings is released in June, just before the festival. We’re also expecting another official artist confirmation before the end of February.
