Boomtown Fair organisers have revealed they’ll be doing a week of artist announcements for Chapter 12 next summer from Monday 9th December. The major headline line-up will then follow in early February.
In an email newsletter sent out today, organisers said: “We have 8 main music programmers in the team, all who specialise in different styles. Every year they have an increasingly difficult job to programme for Boomtown, due to many artist fees going through the roof and issues like Brexit screwing the system.
“However, the planned line-up is looking absolutely ridiculous, across all stages and districts. It’s Boomtown through and through and we’re certain every single one of you will love it.”
After cracking noise levels and launching a massive green campaign this year, today’s email revealed the focus for next summer’s festival will be “nailing the camping and general living experience”, with new flat campsites and a promised “eradication” of most of the steepest camping areas.
More information on the new campsites, alongside pre-pitched and ‘glamping’ options, will be revealed on Monday 3rd December, a week ahead of the first artist announcements.
An ‘equinox’ series of events will take place at Area 404, Boomtown’s new indoor events arena, in late February next year, to mark the halfway point between the main festivals each summer. Last week, DJ Rodigan, Chinese Man and Hot Chip DJ sets were announced as the headline acts for two New Year’s events at the 3,500 capacity venue.
In today’s newsletter, organisers also promised “the most exciting and ambitious project in Boomtown history” will be launched early next year, dubbed “the culmination of 11 years of creative development and collective imagination, something so spectacular the very thought of it swims through your veins and sparks on your breath”.
As part of the environmental campaign launched this year, Boomtown have now helped TreeSisters plant over 71,725 trees in forests around the world. Tickets for Chapter 12 next summer are currently on sale with an optional £2 donation to the charity. The £2 works out as five trees, which means if everyone attending donates Boomtown could plant over 250,000 trees.
Boomtown Fair Chapter 12: New Beginnings will take place from Wednesday 12th to Sunday 16th August 2020 at the Matterley Estate near Winchester.
